I'm Assane Sy. I was born in Senegal and currently live in Northern Virginia. I love spending time in nature, walking the trails of the local parks, visiting the forests and mountains in the area. I enjoy reading, playing chess, soccer, baseball, basketball, fishing and riding motorcycles. I also greatly enjoy writing and poetry - check out my new Media page for inspiring written and audio content!
I was born and raised in Dakar, the capital of Senegal. My maternal grandmother was of Bambara and Moroccan descent. My mother’s father was of Bambara descent. The Bambara tribes and the Dogon tribes of Mali share a brotherhood as ancient as the land they live on. In Bambara, the word Dogon means little brother. The Dogons are considered ancient masters of Cosmology. They are believed to be the tribe who first charted the location of the Sirius star system, most notably Sirius B, a binary star to Sirius A which cannot be seen by the naked eye. The oral traditions of the Dogons spoke of their advanced knowledge of Cosmology ages before scientific discoveries. They shared detailed information about many stars, planets and civilizations in the cosmos -such as Sirius B- long before telescopes were able to identify the binary star.
My father’s lineage is of Diola’s descent on his mother’s side and Toucouleur descent on his father’s side. The Toucouleurs have roots in the North region of Senegal and share Ancestral relations with the Peul ( also called Pular) and Fulani tribes. The Diolas are rooted in Casamance, in the South region of Senegal. The Oral Teachers of many tribes in West Africa say the Diolas, Peuls, Sereres and a few other tribes in that region, are “brother tribes” who are descendents of the Ancestors of the Nile valley, the original inhabitants of the Kemetic civilization located in modern day Egypt. The scientific researches of many of the world’s best historians and anthropologists, such as Cheikh Anta Diop , also confirm that Afro civilizations inhabited the Nile region centuries before they were forced out of the area.
Both of my parents grew up in cities, far from traditional African environments where spiritual beliefs, practices and lineages are discussed and shared with the new generations.
My father’s grandmother was one of the last spiritual practitioners in his immediate family. My father has childhood memories of going to the forest with her ( In Casamance, home of the Diola tribe) to collect wood for sacred fires, plant medicines and other traditional remedies. She was known as an Elder and a Medicine Woman in her community, regularly consulting and healing patients and frequently advising on community matters.
As a young child, I had several spiritual and mystical experiences. For many years, I had awareness of the spirit world, frequently receiving messages and learning lessons from various teacher spirits. Right around puberty, I had an intense spiritual experience. Soon after, I started disconnecting with my spiritual world. By the time I reached my early twenties, I had no recollection of most of my previous spiritual experiences.
In my late twenties, I started researching my lineage and ancestry, discovering much about ancient and present spiritual beliefs and practices. I learned that many native tribes of America had similar beliefs and practices as tribes from Africa and India. I learned that thousands of years ago, they observed the passing of time through a similar manner, shared spiritual technology and knew a lot more about each other and the Universe than I was told in school. I learned that most of their teachings focused on spreading a message of peace, love and unity. The Ancestors of many lands called our World the 5th World of Peace and considered themselves to be Peacemakers and Peacekeepers.
Shortly after I started implementing a simple meditation routine, I started reconnecting with the spiritual world. Over the last 11 years, I learned how the spirit grows a connection with our Ancestors, Guides, Galactic and Celestial teachers, messengers from the Angelic realms and more. I’m thankful to have had wonderful teachers who taught me how to balance the physical and the spiritual world.
Today my mission is to share what I have learned. Many people have a desire to connect to themselves on a deeper level, whether it would increase their awareness of their own spirit and the spiritual world, or simply to remedy something they do not fully understand but feel is impacting their well-being.
Like many others who have preceded me, I'm in service to our world of peace.
